Little Zebra Books Director, David Ker, visits Mozambique
It was a beautiful moment when I walked into this church in a remote corner of Mozambique. The walls were vibrating from the voices of more than 100 children reciting Scripture in their own language, singing songs that they had composed themselves, and even doing dramas based on the story of the month: Jesus and Zacchaeus. One of the things that is so powerful about what is happening in Mozambique with Little Zebra Books is that we aren’t doing it! Sure, we sent off boxes of books to Mozambique. But the rest is entirely led by believers working in their own communities. It was incredibly inspiring to see these dedicated adults using our little books to power their children’s ministry.
One of our ministry partners in Mozambique is Children’s Hope In Christ. They have used our books since 2017. Their ministry model is to start Sunday School programs in churches using Little Zebra books. Their ministry has expanded to include dozens of churches across Tete Province. James Ficha Joanete, the founder of Children’s Hope In Christ has a real burden to see ministry to children spread across Mozambique. Last year, they started a new program called “Tiri Pamodzi!” which means “We are together!” In several locations across the province, children gather once a month to display their skills in reading, singing, and drama. This program is really inspiring kids to get involved in weekly Sunday School classes so they can receive books and get involved in the monthly reading festival.
When you support Little Zebra Books, you make it possible for us to provide books free of charge to programs like this one in Mozambique. Why not make a gift right now?
