Masifunde Sidlala (“Let’s read and have fun!”)
Masifunde Sidlala was launched in 2023, providing Xhosa books, training, and support for grassroots organisations working in the Cape Town area.
This initiative currently impacts approximately 3000 children, providing them with reading-for-enjoyment activities and 10 books to take home each year.
Mozambique
Tiri Pabodzi! (We are together!)
Since 2015, Little Zebra Books has partnered with Children’s Hope in Christ to provide mother-tongue books for children speaking Nyungwe and Nyanja. This church-based project engages children through Saturday Bible clubs, Sunday School classes, and monthly Scripture reading celebrations. The Tiri Pabodzi project impacts an estimated 3,000 children monthly.
Online and In Print
Children’s Book Development
Little Zebra Books works with professional illustrators to develop original artwork that appeals to African children. Through engaging artwork featuring African children, Little Zebra books contextualize powerful messages from traditional folktales and Bible stories. All Little Zebra Books are developed in consultation with local partners to make sure that artwork communicates well and appeals to children. All artwork and translations are shared through a generous Creative Commons license that allows others to reuse our books freely.
