Little Zebra Books is really into making BEAUTIFUL BOOKS available to ANYONE in ANY LANGUAGE. We recently signed a partnership with SIL’s Bloom Library where we now have our own bookshelf!
SIL’s Bloom software was created so that people from hundreds of different languages can build their own libraries! SIL people love languages and love people. I’m a SIL member and was introduced to Bloom years ago. I was a little sad that the first Bloom books were not that beautiful, but Bloom has grown and changed over the years and today, I am loving it!
This collaboration means that ALL of our Little Zebra books will be available soon through Bloom Library. So far we have uploaded our easy-to-read titles in English and Portuguese to serve as shell books that anyone can use to make their own translations. There are currently 473 languages published to Bloom Library and now our books are ready for sharing.
Bloom is a little geeky at first glance, but looking deeper you will appreciate the possibilities it brings.
- Bloomlibrary.org has over 10,000 books in 473 languages that can be read, translated or adapted and personalized. Download any book for free to print yourself!
- BloomReader app is downloadable for free to be used offline and allows anyone to read any book from Bloomlibrary.org.
- Bloom software can be used to make audio books, books for the visually impaired and even sign language books for the Deaf.
We are very excited to explore new ways to make books accessible to new communities around the world. We already reach out to some of the most remote communities through our print materials together with our network of volunteers. Bloom reaches a step further than we can alone. We are thankful for that!
