I thought I knew the answer. If you asked me what Little Zebra Books is about I would say it’s this: a kid holding a book. It’s the reason I started this ministry because I knew that most kids in Mozambique would never hold a book in their own language. And I wanted to change that.
So here we are almost 10 years later and we have given away literally hundreds of thousands of books to kids in Africa. But Jeni pointed out something very counterintuitive to me: we don’t actually give books to kids. We give books to adults who share them with kids. These are people like the ones you see in the photos above: Veronica, Daniel, and Ilda. The magic happens when an adult sits with a child, or a group of children, and opens the world of books to them.
These amazing people are sharing our books with children in their community every day. They don’t just hand out books and walk away. Over and over, they give of their time to share the joy of reading and the love of God with kids in their neighborhood. And our books make that possible! Isn’t that incredible?
Pause for a moment with me and give thanks for the incredible volunteers who are sharing Little Zebra Books in their community. Pray that God blesses these adults who give sacrificially of their time to share books with children.
